Organic pumpkins
There are various varieties of pumpkin. In our nurseries, we grow the Hokkaido pumpkin and the Butternut pumpkin.
The pumpkin was imported into Europe from America by Spanish farmers and is the fruit of various plants belonging to the Cucurbitaceae family.
Native to the island of Hokkaido in Japan, the Hokkaido pumpkin variety is greatly appreciated for its nutritional qualities and its slowness in deteriorating. The skin of this pumpkin is very thin and its flesh is orange, rich in mineral salts, fibres, vitamins, beta-carotene.
The Butternut Violina Pumpkin is native to the United States but is now recognised as a product of excellence of the Po Valley. With its smooth orange skin, bright orange flesh and sweet taste, this variety does not contain saturated fats and cholesterol but is rich in fibre, vitamins and mineral salts. Pumpkins are effective natural antioxidants.
